[how to watch]

I would watch a chapter at a time and refresh. as it gets slightly slow otherwise. the last two chapters are clumped together, but

if they don't work, they are attached separately.

Use your eyes and ears for MAXIMUM pleasure.

it is 80 minutes long, by the way.

Here are some reviews...

"What a fine piece of work you guys have done!  Sewing together all those towns, people, gigs, bands, scenes into one cohesive work is a damned impressive task..." Levi Fuller, Seattle, USA

"I just watched the "glocal" documentary last night. You probably already know this, but it is absolutely phenomenal. The sound is crappy, the lighting is horrible, and it's very rough, but it's a beautiful beautiful piece of work...In any case, your documentary is amazing. It shows the type of passion, talent, and optimism that is truly inspiring. Congratulations a million times over. You have created something special." Dale Bridges, Boulder, USA

"Absolutely brilliant." Nick Shane, Grimsby, UK

"I sincerely enjoyed the DVD... I watched it and I loved it.  I'm proud of you and delighted to be a part of it." Ukulele Loki, Boulder, USA

"Absolutely inspiring" Matt Sloane, Wollongong, Australia.

"Thank you so much for sending me your documentary. IT IS FANTASTIC!!! I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!! i really think you guys should screen it here somewhere in Sydney. even at the Annandale Hotel, they do cult cinema nights sometimes, maybe they could do a Chestnut productions night. i think it would be an absolute hit darl." Lisa Musico, Sydney, Australia.

3-Line Synopsis
Glocal Scene: The story of the Global Local Music Scene. With no funding, a team travel around the world meeting music communities to paint a picture of the modern day music scene. 45 interviews from local musicians, venue owners, radio presenters, music academics and music fans across 7 countries. Support your local art scene

Medium Synopsis
In the age of MySpace, YouTube, Satellite TV and Digital Radio music from anyone and anywhere should be embraced. Yet it mostly isn't. Music has become a more marketable sphere of art:

- The mainstream music industry is biased towards geographical position; cities become 'hot pockets' of new music, irrelevant of talent.

- The mainstream music press concentrates on similar-genre artists, whilst the link between tunes and fashion grows more and more.

- The new bands you will get to hear about in widespread magazines will be those who pay publicists to get them press.

Music is everywhere and can take any form.

The idea behind [glocal scene] was to get away from conventional techniques of distributing and broadcasting music. We, Chestnut Productions, physically traveled to local music scenes around the world meeting those in the communities themselves. The music we found was down to chance through the people we met.

Between 2006 and 2008 we found out what local musicians, venue owners, radio presenters, music academics and music fans thought about the modern day music scene. We toured England, South Africa, Australia, USA, Mexico, Canada and France in much the same way as most music bands do: without any funding.

A local music scene or a local community shares problems, successes, instruments and ideas. We wanted to bridge the gap between globalism and localism to create a Global Local Music Scene.

[glocal scene] is the story of that Global Local Music Scene.
