How to get a hold of the doc....
[glocal scene] is being put through the festival mill at the moment, but with little money to actually do it with there will not be much industry coverage. We were invited to the 'prestigous' New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (without them even seeing the doc) and then asked to pay $400 for the priviledge. I replied by telling them we were simply too independent to be able to be part of their Independent film festival (they then proceeded to spam my email account, which was nice). Now, we are looking to show the film in art spaces all over the world. Make a night of it somehow. I propose putting this 80 minute doc alongside some local films from the area. All we need is a room with a white wall and a projector, and a laptop. Universities will have all of this set up. So those of you who have a uni near them and want to put on a film night, give [glocal scene] a shout at phil at glocalscene . com Or if you have a room with a wall, also email. Let us build our own spaces and share the things we make! All over the world. Here are some reviews... "What a fine piece of work you guys have done! Sewing together all those towns, people, gigs, bands, scenes into one cohesive work is a damned impressive task..." Levi Fuller, Seattle, USA "I just watched the "glocal" documentary last night. You probably already know this, but it is absolutely phenomenal. The sound is crappy, the lighting is horrible, and it's very rough, but it's a beautiful beautiful piece of work...In any case, your documentary is amazing. It shows the type of passion, talent, and optimism that is truly inspiring. Congratulations a million times over. You have created something special." Dale Bridges, Boulder, USA "Absolutely brilliant." Nick Shane, Grimsby, UK "I sincerely enjoyed the DVD... I watched it and I loved it. I'm proud of you and delighted to be a part of it." Ukulele Loki, Boulder, USA "Absolutely inspiring" Matt Sloane, Wollongong, Australia. "Thank you so much for sending me your documentary. IT IS FANTASTIC!!! I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!! i really think you guys should screen it here somewhere in Sydney. even at the Annandale Hotel, they do cult cinema nights sometimes, maybe they could do a Chestnut productions night. i think it would be an absolute hit darl." Lisa Musico, Sydney, Australia.
Let's get together and make some art space happen. Let's build a global local music scene. Also email me if you want the doc and I can figure out a way of sending it to you. Or making it available online. Philip Heron Paris, France
