Old Man River - Japan Appeal

Australian band Old Man River embarked on a heart-warming project earlier this year to offer disaster stricken Japan some good tidings in the wake of their devastating earthquake. An old Japanese tradition states that whomever folds a thousand origami paper cranes will be gratned one wish. Ohad Rein, leader of Old Man River, set out to do this with the intention of wishing Japan a speedy recovery from the events of the 11th March 2011.

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Every year the college radio stations of Hamilton, Ontario gather their musical directors together to concoct a compilation showcasing the local talent. Everybody Dance Now (Songs from Hamilton) is in its 6th year with 93.3 CFMU FM & INDI 101 FM proving that the city houses no shortage of tunes and styles. Jil Is Lucky - Paris, France

I had somehow come into contact with Roy Music, the label of the Paris band Jil Is Lucky, through booking gigs around Europe. The label manager put on a few gig nights in the City of Lights, and often prescribed peculiar English names (with a feline slant) to attract a fashionable crowd (e.g. Cute as a Cat and We Are The Lions).
